Volunteer

Our volunteers

We currently have over 20 highly trained volunteers supporting the delivery of advice to the people of Rotherham, however due to increasing demand on our service we are currently recruiting more volunteers to train in a variety of roles. If you want to find out more please get in touch.

Adviser

Our office based Advice volunteers who give advice to our clients are at the heart of our service and we could not manage without them.

You will receive full training in the skills needed to help people deal with their problems and learn how to find the information the client needs from our extensive database.

Volunteering in person offers a great opportunity to engage with the wider team, whilst helping support the advice provision and service needs.

Project & Back office support roles

If you enjoy a fast-paced and ever-changing role then our project & back office support opportunities may be what you are looking for.

They may include working directly with clients across a variety of formats or supporting us with organisational development projects.

Trustee

We are looking for people with a strategic vision, independent judgement, willingness to give time (bi-monthly 2-hour board meetings), and commitment to being a trustee.

Being a trustee is a great way to get a strategic view of charity leadership.

We are particularly keen to achieve a more diverse board of trustees and welcome applicants from all age groups and sectors of the community.

Social value of volunteers

Our continual training and investment in our volunteers enable them to make a huge contribution to our service. Our volunteers are vital, allowing us to reach many more people than if we were purely a paid staff-run team.

In turn, volunteers benefit from gaining new skills and personal development. They also tell us they enjoy better personal well-being and gain satisfaction from the community engagement they experience. These positive effects on an individual’s life are well documented, but being a local Citizens Advice volunteer also enables you to make a difference in your local community. You will be helping some of the most vulnerable people in Rotherham with excellent quality advice and information, ensuring they are not disadvantaged by not knowing their rights and responsibilities.
